I Have A Question About A Fly That Was In My 10 Gallon Betta Fish Tank?
June 9th, 2009 | How To Fly Fish | 3 Comments »I noticed there was a huge fly in my 10 gallon tank. I was going to feed my fish and he just darted away from me. He's now hiding. He won't come to the top. His tummy looks a little big. The side of his face looks puffy, or a different color. Any advice? What happend? Is he going to live?
The fly was in his bubble nest.
The fly was dead. I was going to feed him fish food.
No worries about the fly. If he is looking a bit swollen, it could just be from his busy bubble nest building, or he could be getting a swimbladder infection or bloat. Do you put salt in his bowl? If so, omit it the next water change.
Also, if you think it may be swim bladder a few greens like peas and lettuce will work. Don't feed him his regular food, just the peas or greens.
I don't think the fly would have anything to do with it…is there any way you can get pictures of his face or discoloration?

I don't think the fly did any harm to your betta.
It's normal for your betta to change colors because it reacts to their mood. If its paler than usual, maybe the fly scared it?
My betta's stomach is huge! Well, not that huge but still, he's kinda chubby. I mean, they have to get fat!
If he's making a collection of bubbles, it means that he's ready to have babys!! I think the reason why his face is so swollen is because of the bubble nesting.
