Well it all depends. You see there are 50 species of flying fish. Some are small, some are large. They have been recorded going as far as 100 meters, 330 feet. They don’t really fly, they glide. They don’t flap their fins. However some species do use their tails to help gain more speed.
As far as I am aware, they glide, not fly. They do this to avoid predators. They can glide up to 180m.
