The USA is full of attractive and exciting locations, which are perfect for fly-fishing. This article lets you know about some of them.

Before continuing towards British Columbia, Washington, and other Alaskan waters, salmons find Sitka in Alaska a good stopover site. Thus fly-anglers of Sitka catch more fish than any other angler in the Southeast Alaska. If you want to fish in this region, then June is the best month.

The Colorado River at Lees Ferry, Arizona is however, the only location for fly-fishing of rainbow trout. There is a fifteen mile long stretch of cold water flowing from Lake Powell between Glen Canyon Dam and the upper end of the Grand Canyon, where the fish is found in plenty. It is feasible to get the help of a guide and go angling for a carp that could weigh 25 pounds.

If saltwater fly-fishing is your cup of tea, then go to Montauk Point, New York. Situated at the furthest part of Long Island on the east, Montauk Point is a popular locale for striper fishing too. Fly anglers have miles of beautiful shoreline in which they can cast their fly.

Fishing for cold water trout is memorable if you choose Gunpowder Falls in Maryland. A deal was struck by the Maryland state agencies and Trout Unlimited to start cold water discharges from Pretty Boy Dam. The result of this is that today there is a multitude of fish including wild and stocked brown, brook, and rainbow trout. The maximum amount of fly-fishing takes place in Gunpowder Falls State Park.

Fishing Creek, Pennsylvania, is one of the states top wild trout streams and it generally stays cool during the the summer. There is a five-mile distance called the Narrows, near Lamar, that is a very popular region for fly fishing.

You could find limitless streams filled with brown trout in Driftless region in Wisconsin. You would find grand access to all the 8 counties of southwestern Wisconsin. There are sixty-eight streams in Vernon County alone, including Kickapoo River and Timber Coulee Creek. Most fly anglers in this region use mayfly and caddis imitations.

Another region where you would never return disappointed, as there are plenty of waterways and streams is in Laguna Madre in Texas. Texas also has its southern coast, which is among the world’s greatest saltwater fly fishing areas. Laguna Madre, situated next to Padre Island has salt water flats, which is home to several types of fish, which make fly-fishing experience an memorable experience.

Another brilliant destination for fishing for rainbow trout is Henry’s Fork, Idaho. Runoff conditions are most suited for fishing in the Island Park region.

One of the most desired venues for fly-fishing is Lake C. W. McDonoughy, the largest lake in Nebraska. Another first-rate spot in Nebraska is the Fremont Lakes State Recreation region, which is a series of 20 sandpit lakes that have been carved into the Platte River basin. Another favorite and popular area for fly-fishermen is the Red Willow artificial lake.

Home to plenty of salt-water and fresh water fish varieties the garden isle of Kauai in Hawaii is first-rate for fly-fishing of largemouth, small-mouth and peacock bass.

Whether you like fresh or salt water fishing, there are thousands of places to fish across the country that offer the fly fisherman endless opportunities and experiences.

A poorly tied knot may mean losing a prized catch. Therefore, you want to make sure you tie them properly. There are a few things you should keep in mind when tying fly fishing knots. This article will give you a few tips.

Lubrication

After you have tied the knot, you will obviously need to tighten it. However, before you do so, you should make sure the line is well-lubricated. When you tighten the knot, the friction creates heat that will weaken monofilament. Lubricating it beforehand will help decrease the amount of heat generated when tying the knot. Simply dip it in water or put it in your mouth to lubricate it with your saliva.

Hold

It’s best to tighten fly fishing knots using a slow, continuous pull. After that’s done, it’s best to test it by pulling on the line and leader quite hard. You want to make sure that your knot will hold before you even try to land a fish with it.

Trimming

After tying your knot, you will need to trim excess material away. You can simply use nippers for this. Although you want to trim away material as closely to the knot as possible, you need to make sure that you don’t get close enough to damage your knot.

Trash

Speaking of trimming, you will probably have excess material lying around afterwards. This isn’t a problem if you’re tying fly fishing knots at home, as you can just throw them in the trash. However, if you’re tying them close to the water, you need to put excess material in your pocket or vest. It will harm fish as well as other animals if you leave it lying around.

http://www.flyfishingoutfitters.com/p/s/listing.aspx?sid=XSB. “Side-to-side movement is pretty intoxicating for any predatory fish.”

So says Charlie Bisharat, inventor of one of the most revolutionary flies in recent memory, the Pole Dancer.

Born of Charlie’s “love for topwater stripers”, the Pole Dancer was designed to imitate the action of conventional lures like the Zara Spook and the Lunker Plunker. As experienced bass and striper anglers know, this zig-zag, ‘walk-the-dog’ action mimics the movement of a wounded baitfish, and is far more enticing to big-shouldered fish than any ordinary in-line retrieve.

The Pole Dancer fly achieves this unique action in large part thanks to its molded foam head, which builds water pressure on one side of the fly when retrieved with sharp stripping motions and causes the fly to veer from left to right and back again.

For the Pole Dancer to achieve this action, everything about the fly must be in balance. To ensure this, the head is held neutral by weight placed toward the back of the shank, and tail materials are kept evenly distributed by a beefy monofilament anti-fouling guard.

Beyond these functional design attributes, the Pole Dancer has a few nice touches that are characteristic of almost any fly that’s successful with predatory fish: big eyes and a red ‘bleeding’ gill slit add a level of realism that help seal the deal.

Though it was first developed for stripers on the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta system, the Pole Dancer fly has done very well in tropical settings, particularly in Baja, for roosterfish and sierra mackerel. Just like Mr. Bisharat’s other pattern, Charlie’s Airhead, the Pole Dancer makes an outstanding go-to topwater fly in any scenario. For optimum fishability, fish the Pole Dancer with Rio’s Outbound line, which is ideal for turning over big saltwater flies. Pick one up at http://www.flyfishingoutfitters.com/fly_lines-rio-outbound_short

Having fished the Pole Dancer firsthand on the Delta with Charlie himself, the Leland Team can only guess at all the applications and venues where this fly will prove invaluable. As you might imagine, Leland is thrilled to be one of the first shops to bring the Pole Dancer to market.
