Tips On Fly Fishing

By admin · March 10, 2010 · Filed in Fly Fish Lessons · 4 Comments »

There are thousands of live-bait anglers, who are excellent sportsmen, but the fly fisherman can practice better conservation from the beginning.

Basically, fly fishing is not only one of the fastest growing sports; it is one of the foremost forms of conserving natural resources as well as providing aquatic recreation.

Fly fishing is, very simple when three things are right: you must have a suitable rod; you must get a line to match it; and you must learn correct casting technique.

For people who wish to know some tips on fly fishing, here is a list of some pointers that could help anglers harness their fly fishing skills:

1. Material of the rod

For one of moderate means, and especially for the beginners, hollow glass is advised since it will require less care than bamboo and will not take a set if improperly handled or stored.

2. Line

Your fly casting skill will not progress with a mismatched rod and line. About 99 times in 100, the troubled fly caster has a line much too light to bring out the action of his rod.

That is why it is important to know that on any given rod, the fly fisherman should use the same size line for anything from small trout and bluegills up to the largest sea fish.

In choosing the size line, anglers should get a C level, an HCH double-taper, or a GBF three-diameter. This choice is based on the fact that a high percentage of fly rods bought nowadays are hollow glass, and that a great majority of these works best with lines of those sizes, almost regardless of lengths or weights.

3. The correct casting technique

In casting, it is important to get about 20 feet of line out front. Anglers should always remember to cast a straight line. Avoid jerky movements even if it is on a faster mode in order to do so.

Best of all, the angler should be relaxed because taunt muscles will ruin his casting.

Boiled down, there should be no reason why you should not learn the fundamental principles just as easily as those who now enjoy fly fishing.

Probably, the best and surest way to learn to cast successfully is to spend a day on the stream with some fisherman who is a competent caster.

Lessons learned on the stream are the best tips you can acquire anywhere in your quest for learning fly fishing.

Is This Paranormal, How Do I Know That I Am Safe?

By admin · February 4, 2010 · Filed in Fly Fish Lessons · 5 Comments »

Hope your out there( Tomb Raider)
I have only lived at this place for 3 months so far!
(I posted a question a few months ago was the first time that I saw a dark vortex misty looking figure in my bathroom which is near my bed.) The begining of this month, I had a gut feeling not to drive but had to anyway I totaled my car it was hit by falling rocks in the road an ran some of the rocks over. I said before, Many of my family and friends are deceased. My brothers drown an I have never had a swimming lesson in my life an at one point in my life, I was certified by red cross as a lifeguard. I can swim like a fish an do believe in reincarnation.A friend of mine wanted me to go with her an I say no lets stay here. I tried to get her to stay but she wouldn’t she was killed not even hours later by a drunk driver. I knew my father was going to die an I was right by his side 2 days before he passed away.
I got hit by truck on a side walk an had bruises a broken rib and collar bone, it felt like someone tried to push me out of the way, but they were to late.I do get premonitions an deja vu for the last ten years, I have had weird things happening. My keys would come up missing of course, I wouldn’t go anywhere because I could find them. Later on the news would be a wreck where would of been driving not even 20 min later there was my keys in plan sight. I have walked into a cafe an their dishes were behind the counter all of them fell on the floor an broke. The guy tried to ring me up and the cash register wouldn’t work. I didn’t go at a stop light after it turned green the person behind me was honking an screaming at me out his window 2 sec later a semi truck came flying over the hill an ran a red light. If i wouldn’t went either me or the guy behind would been killed. I walked into the bank yes, a real bank nothing electrical would work. I have walked into the building a blew out the entire lighting fixture. I do believe, I have guardian angels!
I have a touch light an it’s in my bathroom it is always on and I know no-one turned it on. It will be extremely cold in the bathroom. I did feel like someone was pulling the covers off me at the end of the bed, while I was asleep it woke me up in a panic when I woke didn’t see anyone but, I heard footsteps. My dog was staring in that direction of the end of the bed. It was pretty scary! My mother and I have seen something outside of the house as well it hard to explain what it was but it looked like an old lantern from years ago. My mom and I both say the lantern float by the window for just a few seconds. My mom also saw it on the opposite side of the house in the yard she said, it looked like an old lantern floating by. I am actually near a national forest which freaks me out a little bit. My dog is freaked out at night he doesn’t like to be alone in any of the rooms an he sticks so close to me where ever, I am in the house. He doesn’t like the backyard at all. We have been having problems with the lights flickering on an off sometimes the power goes completely out an then it will come back on.. I did call the power company there was a line down but it wasn’t even near my house which shouldn’t of caused any problems for us. The same night we had 3 cars in the drive that wouldn’t start or anything electrical wouldn’t work. my computer froze up, which it’s new. Should I take these as signs of something that will test me. I am not crazy and don’t need medications! Please safe yourself some time and don’t answer back if you think that I am on acid or drugs! Because, I don’t do drugs! I don’t need a Doctor either!! Maybe you believe in poppin a little pill to make you feel better but I don’t! I have tried to look for books an most of them didn’t help me at all! I do have friends believe because they have been with me when it has happened! I need references, resources, real help? Can I learn to control it somehow or is it out of my hands? Please help!!!

Wow Mel,this is incredible the experiences that you have had! I am so sorry for all of the tragedy’s that you have had going on in your life.Something that I would considering doing if I were in your shoes, would be to keep a notebook of everything that has been occurring with you.I’m not sure how much assistance that I can to you,I can only offer some insight.I believe you when you say that you aren’t crazy and on drugs.Lets start off by me saying that many animals will alert you to any kind of spiritual activity,I’ve had both dogs and cats that have done this.Have you tried to communicate at all with what is in your home? To me this sounds like a very negative entity that is present with you.It could me that it is connected with the land and has attached it’s self to you.I would run a digital tape recorder and do some some investigating on my own.Run the tape and ask some questions such as is their a spirit present with me,what is your name and why are you here, see if you get any intelligent responses to your questions that you ask.As I have stated before, spirits will draw their energy from any electromagnetic field, such as batteries or lights.Try to capture this figure that you are seeing with a digital camera or a video recorder. The more evidence you collect the better. You say that you and you mom have seen lanterns outside of your window. This makes me feel that this is someone from the past that may have a connection with the land. You can go to your local historical society and try to look up who has lived on the land at one time. You need to collect as many facts that you can.Have you tried burning some sage in the home in every room? If you do this you must command the presence to leave in Jesus Christ’s name and tell it that it is no longer welcomed in the home and you are banishing it for good. You can burn the sage that you find in your grocery spice isle. Now some people will also go out and buy a white candle and light it and command the presence to leave in Jesus Christ’s name, tell it that you are banishing it and after you do this you blow it out and you have to dispose of this candle outside of your property,I have seen them do this on Paranormal State before. If all of these things don’t work,I think that it’s best if you call in some help,my suggestion is to get in contact with Chip Coffey,he has his own web site if you go on line and type his name in the search bar,he is a psychic medium and I believe that you can email him or try to get in touch with Lorraine Warren, you can also try to type her name on line,if you come up with any findings after you try and do these things, then come back here to this section and share them with me,I hope this will help you out,I wish you luck and please let me know how all of this turns out for you and your mom,I’ll be anxiously awaiting to hear from you, make sure that you ask the Lord for protection and to watch over you and your mom in addition,Tomb Raider.

I Need Your Opinion! Is This A Good Story? And What Are Some Good Mermaid Names.sorry Its So Long?

By admin · October 15, 2009 · Filed in Fly Fish Lessons · 1 Comment »

Yes! My classmates and I were playing tag on our playground at Vaudeville Middle School. Luckily for me I am very limber and elusive, so I am very hard to catch. “I’m going to get you, Becky!” one of my classmates, Freddy called. He has brown hair and grayish blue eyes; he was one of the fastest kids in the 6th grade. As I was running, I took a quick glance behind me. Darn! I thought. He’s so close! I looked ahead and saw a pole sticking out from the monkey bars. I stuck my hand out to my left and did a u-turn using the pole to swing around. Freddy went flying forward, not expecting me to turn. I did not notice one of the mean popular girls coming towards me. Freddy and her were usually ‘it’. “Tag you’re it!” she yelled. Her name was Jessica, and her father owned Dairy Queen.
“Class! Time to come in,” Mrs. Sines called. “Okay!” we called. “Okay class, today we will be talking about ‘The Leaning Tower of Pisa’. It was built on the date of August 9th 1173. It is 183.27 feet from the ground on the lowest side and 186.02 ft on the highest side.” I raised my hand. “Yes Becky?” Mrs. Sines replied. “Do we need our laptops?” I asked. “Yes that would be good to have them,” she announced to the whole class. “Since we have such a short class today I am only going to give a brief synopsis. We pulled out our laptops. “Okay class who knows why the tower looks like it’s about to topple?” she asked. A girl named Sarah raised her hand. “Yes Sarah?” she replied. “My deem is that a giant pushed the tower over, but before it fell a troll stopped it and then a dragon killed the giant and the troll. And then-“ sarah replied. Mrs. Sines cut her off. “Sarah talk to me after class.” Mrs. Sines snapped. Then all of a sudden the fire alarm started ringing, we started to smell smoke! “Class we are going to have to vacate the classroom because the fire and smoke would induce our lungs to fill with smoke. Shoot! I thought. I could not get wet! Or else- I shuddered. I did not want to be a test at a government facility.
Once we met at the basketball court about 300 yards away from the building Mrs. Sines announced, “Class this was a setback from our lesson about the great tower; so we will continue it out here!”
“Miss. Smith!” Mrs. Sines called. I looked up. Oh no! I was in another reverie! “Y-yes Mrs. Sines?” I sputtered. “You may leave now,” she told me. Oh! Class was over. How embarrassing! “Yes m’am,” I replied. I got up and stuffed my books in my backpack that had luckily not been smoldered in the fire. As I got to my bike by the playground I noticed a note attached to it. I quickly scanned it. It said, I know you are not a mortal, neither am I. Meet me in the Annual Corn Field Maze down at Roseville Park about a 10 minute bike ride for you; Fish Girl. Sincerely, B.B. Time: 4:00
I looked at the clcok on my phone; it read 3:45. Mom won’t be home until five. I should have enough time. I hopped on my bike and started riding.
I arrived at the park right on time. There was a swing-set, a small lake, the cornfield maze, and couple of other typical park things. I parked my bike and walked into the field of corn. I had been here last week so I still had a map. I followed the map to the direct center. And called out, “Hello? B.B?” A handsome young boy about my age stepped out. “Hi.” He said. “I am B.B.” Wow! Was he a magician or wizard? “You gave me the note?” I asked. “Yeah. Cool writing huh?” he said. “Umm yeah sure. By the way I’m Becky, what’s B stand for?” I politely asked. Next thing I know he’s at my side, picking me up and throwing me in the lake! “AHHH!” I screamed. As soon as I hit the water I dove under making sure my ‘little secret’ didn’t show. “Hey Becky! B stands for Billy!” He yelled trying to get me to pop up. I didn’t need air now so I started to swim around on the bottom of the lake. Ugh. I thought. I might as well pop up. I took my hand and swirled it over my body and kicked my tail around in a circle. Swoosh! I popped up to the surface in about a second. “What do you want with me?!” I screamed at him. He sighed. I waited.
About a minute later he replied. “I am a wizard. Watch.” He pulled out a small white pole and tapped it on his hand. The top of it glowed blue. “I know you’re a mermaid. Don’t worry I won’t tell.” Billy said. I swam over to him. I hopped up onto dry land keeping my tail moist with a usual splash from my hand on it. I looked at my tail. The scales were light blue. “My fish name is-“ I said but Billy cut me off. “
P.S. this is my little sisters story NOT mine she is 11 and loves water.

Well, I guess it’s alright, but the writing is immature at loads of points, but I’m guessing you have a very good plot idea. I guess it’s fun to read.

Edit:
If it’s your little sister’s, she’s really good.

Ten Items For This Novel?

By admin · September 28, 2009 · Filed in Fly Fish Lessons · 1 Comment »

I’m doing a project on the novel A Salty Peice of Land by Jimmy Buffett, and I need ten items for a project that describe the novel, it’s kinda hard :/

Here’s a summary of the novel.

A Salty Piece of Land brings back the character of Tully Mars from Jimmy Buffett’s previous novel, Tales from Margaritaville. Tully is a Wyoming cowboy on the lam. The ranch where he lives and works has been converted to a poodle ranch run by a universally hated woman by the name of Thelma Barston. After Tully throws a massage table through her plate glass window, she uses her political connections to trump up charges and have a warrant issued for his arrest. Tully takes his faithful steed, Mr. Twain, and decides he wants to see the ocean. With bounty hunters on his trail, this begins a series of adventures for him that will take him to the Alabama coast, Key West, Mexico, Belize, Cuba, and the Bahamas.

Tully is a kind soul, hard worker, and a quick learner. He befriends a shrimp boat captain named Captain Kirk who teaches him his first lessons about the ways of the sea and transports him and Mr. Twain to a remote part of the Yucatan peninsula called Punta Margarita. He also meets and begins a budding friendship with a musician/treasure hunter/pilot named Willie Singer. Tully lands a job as a fly-fishing guide at the Lost Boys fishing camp in Punta Margarita. It’s run by a man named Bucky Norman who leases the land from the manager of a country western singer named Tex Sex. The other fly-fishing guide is a Mayan shaman, Ix-Nay. In the remote outpost of Punta Margarita, Tully feels like he can leave his past behind and try to figure out where his new life will lead him. On a trip to the Mayan ruins at Tulum, he’s stranded when he totals a Jeep. While waking a from a ganja-induced dream on the beach there, he sees a beautiful schooner coming into the bay. Its captain is 101-year old Cleopatra Highbourne, and she’s on a mission to find a fresnel lens for a lighthouse she wants to refurbish on the Bahamian island of Cayo Loco, the salty piece of land of the book’s title. It’s an endeavor that will eventually involve Tully and his friends, but first he must make a trip to Belize to find a Land Rover to replace the Jeep. A man on the run from the law with a fake passport and bounty hunters in pursuit must be careful. Which is how Tully ended up in the middle of a wild spring break party with a couple hot college girls.

That’s a quick outline to the plot, although the plot is not that important. It serves as the vehicle to further the adventures of Tully and his new-found friends. Some of the chapters in this novel are letters from Willie Singer as he searches for a fresnel lens while island hopping his way across the south Pacific in a seaplane. Each adventure is just plain fun as Tully finds out what’s important to his life, and that answer is invariably a sense of ethics, a lot of fun, and good friends you can count on anytime. It helps that a lot of these friends are very wealthy and can come to the rescue at the drop of a hat. Tully continues to find like-minded people, often making instant connections as if they share the same karma. Karma and mysticism play a recurring role in A Salty Piece of Land, from his father’s friend and Indian medicine man, Johnny Red Dust, to Ix-Nay the Mayan shaman, to an odd religion on a forgotten South Sea island.

A Salty Piece of Land is a fun ride through Jimmy Buffett’s idea of paradise, and you get the sense it’s a place he’s visited often. Many of his own loves, flying, sailing, and fishing, are featured prominently in the novel. It’s a world where drink, ganja, and fun are pleasant additions if not done to excess. It’s also a place where the dark forces of greed, corpocracy, and pollution threaten paradise. A disdain for tourists and resorts and an affection for indigenous people who’ve learned to live off the land runs strong through the novel. Even Cuban baseball, played for pride instead of greedy contracts, plays a role.

This is not a literary novel and A Salty Piece of Land has no pretensions that it is. There will undoubtedly be those readers put off by its lack of any real drama or suspense. At times it’s predictable, but it’s a comforting predictability at that. You know the good guys will win, the friends will be there in the time of need, and all surprises will eventually be pleasant ones. That doesn’t distract from the enjoyment of the novel, but adds to it instead. Jimmy Buffett’s prose easily transports the reader to the different settings in his paradise. I don’t fish, I’ve never sailed a schooner across the Caribbean, or flown a plane. By the end of this novel, I wanted to do all three. Therein lies the charm of this book: its easy access to warmth and beauty of many types

teehee…anyways, i already have a Jimmy Buffett shirt because he wrote the novel and a poodle because Tully gets transferred to a poodle ranch, I’d LOVE some help!

Thanks:)
~Miss

How about a schooner, lighthouse, seaplane, fly-fishing rod (all miniatures like from a craft store), a miniature island (just cut out a small roundish shape from a piece of cardboard and glue sand on it with maybe a palm tree), a stick with feathers for the Indian Medicine Man, a passport (just make a small cardboard replica), and maybe cowboy boots and/or hat?
