Do Any One Know About A Fly Fish? A Fish That Will Just Jump In Your Boat With Out You Catching It?
May 31st, 2009 | How To Fly Fish | 8 Comments »I heard about these different fishes on a show but I was doing something at the time that I did not get all the facts.
They are not in fact flying fish but they are a species of Cuban/Spanish Carp that have been released into several lakes and rivers in the northeastern United States. They are thriving but are not a native species to the US.They are shiney silver in color and range from a few pounds up to 20+ pounds in weight. The fish react to vibration of boat motors (and mild electric current) They can jump as high as 8 feet out of the water, and yes they can jump into your boat. A few people have suffered minor injuries are being slammed by bigger fish as they jump blindly out of the water. Since these fish are high in numbers, the water literally errupts with them as hundreds react to the vibrations in the water, jumping every direction. Pretty incredible to see. There has been a lot of TV coverage about them lately. They are having a very negative effect on the natural enviornment because they eat the same things natural species of fish eat.
